When you’re dealing with pain, it’s natural to wonder how many appointments it will take to feel better. At Highland Spine + Sport, we don’t automatically recommend months of frequent visits or place every patient on the same predetermined treatment plan.
Instead, we believe your care should be based on your individual condition, goals, and response to treatment.
Two people can experience pain in the same area for completely different reasons. One person’s lower back pain may be related to an irritated disc, while another person may be struggling with limited hip mobility, poor load tolerance, or difficulty controlling certain movements.
That’s why your first visit includes a thorough assessment. We want to understand:
This information allows us to create a focused plan instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all schedule.
Hands-on treatment can be extremely helpful. Chiropractic adjustments, dry needling, soft-tissue treatment, and other techniques may reduce pain and help restore movement.
However, feeling temporarily better is only one part of the process.
We also want to help you improve your strength, movement capacity, and confidence. That’s why exercise is an important part of care at Highland Spine + Sport. As your symptoms improve, we gradually expose your body to the movements and activities it needs to tolerate.
The goal is not for you to feel like you must come in several times every week indefinitely. The goal is to give you the tools and physical capacity to manage your health with greater independence.
Some patients may benefit from closer follow-up at the beginning of care, especially when pain is significantly affecting work, sleep, exercise, or daily activities. Others may only need occasional guidance and progression.
There is no single visit schedule that is appropriate for everyone.
We continually evaluate whether you are:
As you improve, appointments should generally become less frequent. Each visit should have a purpose, whether that is reducing symptoms, progressing your exercises, restoring function, or helping you safely return to a specific activity.
Avoiding long, high-frequency treatment plans does not mean every problem can be fixed in one or two appointments.
Your recovery timeline may be influenced by the type of injury, how long symptoms have been present, your overall health, the physical demands of your job or sport, and how consistently you can perform your rehabilitation program.
Tendon problems, significant injuries, chronic conditions, and post-surgical cases may require a longer rehabilitation process. The difference is that your care should still have measurable goals and a clear direction.
If progress is slower than expected, we reassess the plan. That may mean modifying treatment, changing your exercises, recommending imaging, or referring you to another healthcare professional when appropriate.
At Highland Spine + Sport, success isn’t measured by how many appointments you attend. It’s measured by what you can do again.
That may mean:
We combine hands-on care, movement assessment, and progressive rehabilitation to help active adults and athletes recover without unnecessary treatment.
You deserve the right amount of care, at the right time, with a clear path toward independence.
